The office of the president of the Gordon Electrical Appliance company is a large and cheerful room. But the man who sits behind the desk in that office has little in common with his surroundings. He is neither large, nor cheerful. He's a small man; small, tired, worried, and frightened. He's in a financial bind, and he is tired of his greedy, grasping, selfish relatives who are spending any money he does have! He needs to raise some money, $100,000, so decides to sell his rare book collection first - which Pam and Jerry think are just wonderful!
