Once again the Cavalcade of America provides us with two engaging historical stories to enjoy on Presidents Day.
In memory of George Washington born 22nd February 1732 and who died in 1799, we have added a radio adaptation based on Maxwell Anderson’s prize-winning epic drama Valley Forge about the time that George Washington spent during the American Revolution war at Valley Forge and the near demise of his soldiers from starvation in their fight for freedom from the British.
In memory of Abraham Lincoln born on 12th February 1809 and who was assassinated in April 1865, we recommend Abraham Lincoln – The War Years. It is an original radio play written specially for the Cavalcade of America by Robert E. Sherwood and based upon the story written by Carl Sandburg in 1939, which traced Lincoln's career from the time of his departure for the White House in 1861, to May 4, 1865.
